Roles

The Employee Services team consists of roughly 200 employees (management and non-management) who are responsible for everything from issuing pay cheques to handling the company's disability caseload. The majority of these employees are based in Montreal.

Operations Group

  • Payroll
    The Payroll team processes approximately 122,000 pay cheques a month, both for employees and for more than 25,000 pensioners. They are responsible for ensuring that all required payroll deductions, such as Canada Savings Bond, taxes and garnishments, are accurately done. Issuing Records of Employment, annual AIP payment and T4s are also this team's responsibility.
  • HR Transaction Management Group
    The Transaction team inputs about 15,000 transactions a month into SAP. These include hires and rehires, transfers, salary changes, promotions and mass reorganizations.
  • Transfer Management Group/Workforce Measures Group
    This group administers the mobility process for CTEA Clerical and Sales Employees' bargaining units and the transfer process for CEP Employees' bargaining units, administration of workforce measures programs and much more.
  • Support & New Process Group
    This group is responsible for support of the Operations group, investigating issues, making recommendations and working directly with IS/IT and CGI.

Client Support Group

  • Employee Services Contact Centre
    This team interacts directly with employees and pensioners through the Employee Contact Centre, answering calls related to pay, policies, and time reporting, among many other items.
  • Communications Team
    The Communications Team is responsible for communication directly to the employee population via e-mail and the HR Web site. Their main function is writing communications related to pay, time reporting, SAP implementation projects and enhancements, and other HR-related topics.

Disability Management Group

The Disability team assists employees who are on disability leave. This team manages the short-term and long-term disability cases and Worker's Compensation claims. The Case Managers are health professionals who work closely with employees, their managers and Physicians to help the employees experience a safe and timely return to work.

Top responsibilities:

Operations

  • Ensuring employees receive accurate pay on time
  • Responsible for processing confidential employee information and for maintaining employee records in SAP
  • Filling vacant positions by doing employee and job matching
  • Providing business analyst support to the Operations

Client Support

  • Answering questions from management and non-management employees and pensioners on issues such as pay, time reporting and transactions.
  • Writing communications in terms that employees can understand and reducing calls into the Contact Centre by providing the information to employees in a timely manner.

Disability Management Group

  • Working with the employees and medical personnel to ensure a safe and timely return to work.

  • To deliver a core set of services consistently, on-time and accurately
  • To assess client needs and issues, and provide support and recommendations pertaining to company's plans, policies, practices and procedures related to personnel issues
  • To help to reduce the company's absenteeism costs by ensuring a timely return to work for employees

  • Dealing with difficult questions/concerns from employees and pensioners
  • Implementing the processes for new company policies and programs, and managing the current processes for companies with unharmonised policies and different collective agreements
